Caring For and Knowing Your Skin Type

Caring for normal, dry skin type, oily skin type, combination skin type, sensitive skin type
Knowing your skin type
Facial Skin is of three types - Normal, Dry and Oily skin type. First of all it is important to understand that the great variety of skin types among us will limit science from accommodating every skin type with its own category. The type of skin you have depends on the activity of the subaceous, or oil producing glands.
The following results generally indicate your skin type as:
Normal Skin Type - If upon observation in the mirror there are no prominent areas of shine, your skin feels comfortable and there is no residue on the tissue.
Combination Skin Type - If upon observation in the mirror there are prominent areas of shine on your forehead, nose, and chin AND the tissue test also reveals residue for those areas but cheeks are normal.
Oily Skin Type - If upon observation in the mirror your entire face appears shiny and the tissue test reveals residue in all four zones.
Dry Skin Type - If upon observation in the mirror there are no areas of shine AND further to this, you can see and feel the presence of tight skin, possibly flaky skin AND there is not a trace of residue on the tissue.

Three Skin Care Tips

Simple Skin Care Tips

The 3 steps to daily skin care

Step One: Cleanse your face and neck every morning and night. Always gently cleanse in circular motions in an upward direction. You don’t need to use anything but your hands to cleanse, washcloths are optional.

Step Two: Tone your skin every time you wash your face and neck. It is one of the most important steps in your skin care regime, but often forgotten. When you tone, you are adjusting the pH of your skin back to normal which is critical to keep your face balanced and healthy. Toning will also remove any stubborn dirt left on your face and prepare your skin for moisturizing. For best results, gently use a cotton ball in upward motions.

Step Three: This is the most important step. Moisturize your face and neck every morning and night after you cleanse and tone. Always moisturize your face and neck in upward, circular motions with a gentle touch on your face. Don't help gravity by tugging down on your skin and remember that the skin on your face, especially around the eyes, is very delicate.

Extra Pampering

Exfoliate your skin once or twice a week. Exfoliate your face and neck in circular upward gentle motions with very gentle products. Remember that you are simply exfoliating off dead skin which takes very little pressure.

Use Eye Creams. They are designed to super moisturize the finest skin on your face. When you apply eye creams always use your ring finger or pinky to apply products around the delicate area of your eyes. Your pinky and ring finger are weak by nature and force you to apply gentle pressure.

Use Facial Masks on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to detoxify, renew, and tighten your pores. Before you use a facial mask, it is important to cleanse and tone. Be sure to leave the mask on your face and neck for five to twenty minutes depending on the mask type. Gently and thoroughly remove the mask with warm water. After you remove your mask make sure that you tone and moisturize.
