Simple Eye Makeup Tricks

January 10, 2008 Return
Although fashion changes rapidly, some shading tips and tricks can be used to enhance the eyes. For eyes that are close set such as lighter-coloured eye-shadow can be used on the inner portion of the lid towards the nose and darker eye shadow on the outer edge of the lid. Reverse technique should be used to apply eyeshadow for widely space eyes.

After eyeshadow, the next trick of eye makeup lies in applying eyeliner. Eye liner must be used with care if it is to have the desire result. Use of pencil is easier as compared to liquid eyeliner. Liquid eye liner can look harsh if it does not blend properly. Natural looking colors like brown, grey or charcoal are most appropriate for creating smoky eyes. Evening eye-makeup is heavier than that is worn during the day. You can add gold or silver colors for intensity and drama.

Every pair of feminine eyes in the world looks better with a coat of mascara. Mascara instantly ‘opens’ the eyes and adds to feminine allure. Mascara has the power to make lashes look thicker and also add to their length. Apply mascara in several thin coats, separating the lashes as you go along and avoiding unsightly clumps. First coat the top of the upper lashes using neat strokes and then their underside.

Removing makeup is even more important than applying make-up. Never allow yourself to go to sleep without removing the makeup. The eyes and surrounding area are extremely sensitive and any single neglect will show up immediately. Carefully remove all makeup thoroughly with eye makeup remover or pure oil (coconut or almond oil is good).

Make Lips Look Fuller - Sexy Lips Instantly

My lips are really full. What can I do when I want to draw the emphasis away from them?

To make your lips look less full, stick to deeper and darker shades. Start by lining your lips with a dark pencil (raisin, chocolate or a deep nude), keeping inside the lines at all times. Follow this with a matte lipstick inside the lines. Avoid shimmery colors or glosses, which will make your lips look even bigger.

My lips aren't very defined. What should I do?

Start by lining your lips with a pencil the same color as your lips. If you've got a skin/lips dilemma, line INSIDE that area. Use a lipbrush to fill in your lips with a matte lipcolor (matte formulas last the longest). Skip the gloss- it will cause your lipstick to move around. Then, to define the edges of your mouth and cover anything outside the liner, dip a Q-tip in some foundation and draw around your lips. Carefully blend outwards until it looks natural. The foundation-on-a-Q-tip trick also works to cover any blemishes you get near your mouth!

How can I keep my lipstick from wearing away?

There's a simple formula for lasts-all-day lipcolor. First, apply a coat of lipstick sealant to your lips. Now, I know it might say to apply this after your lipcolor, but it can make the color cakey and ugly looking. So, put the sealant on, then apply a coat of your lipstick. Blot this with one ply of tissue then re-apply the lipstick. Ta-da! Long lasting lipcolor!

I thought lining around my eyes would make them stand out, but they just look smaller. What should I do instead?

Lining under your eyes will often make your eyes appear smaller. Why? Because dark colors make things look smaller and causes them to recede! If you desperately want to line your eyes, try using a white, silver or taupe pencil instead. But for the ultimate wide-eyes, why don't you try a matte, pastel shadow (like baby blue, lime green, moon grey, or lavender), then curl your lashes and apply mascara? For extra ooomph, choose a shimmery eyeshadow in a matching shade and apply just a TAD to the inner corner of your upper eyelid!

What kind of eye makeup will look good with my glasses?

You're going to want to create a naturally beautiful look, since your eyes already have a great accessory (the glasses). Start by using concealer under your eyes to hide minimize the appearance of any shadows created by the glasses. Skip the eyeliner, but use mascara on your top lashes. Concentrate it on the base of your lashes to define the eye area. If you're not happy with your glasses and can't wait to get contact lenses, try accentuating your mouth with deep or vivid colors. This will keep the attention there!

XOXO!

MAKEUP Color for Darker Complexions.

Dark skinned tones can vary from olive to caramel, brown to black. There are least 38 different shades of deeper-than-fair skins (compared to only 6 white shades), which are based on red, blue, grey or yellow undertones. Choose your foundation carefully, and find one that's specially designed for darker skin tones.

If you are Dramatically DARK, look for foundation shades like deep chocolate, hazelnut brown, golden brown, tan, coffee, beige and exotic. To reduce shine go for tinted powder in sheer shades of bronze or rich brown, or an Exotic Translucent Powder.

EYE SHADOW - peach and deep brown, rust, bronze or plum shades for day time and for night add green or gold.

BLUSH needs to be in burnt sugar, russet, amber, or terracotta shades and even a dusty plum-red shade. Avoid pink and orange tones, unless your skin is a light shade of dark.

LIPS - use creamy matt shades. Go for bright shades of coral tangerine, nutty browns and aubergine shades. Keep away from mauvy shades as they will turn blue. Try spicier shades for evening like ginger and cinnamon tones.

ASIAN skin may have a blue or yellow undertone so foundation shades could be in shades of olive, light beige, ivory, cream or the lighter of the exotic shades.

BLUSH could be in a shades with red or pink undertones so use just a touch.

EYESHADOW could be deep grey, black, or pastel tones of pink, blue and green. Gold and Brown would also be good and frosted shadows look great.

LIPS look good in burnt orange shades, chestnut or even some pinks and reds. Experiment a little, and see colors listed under lipstick in the makeup page.

Pick the right colors to make the most of your skintone ....* Very dark and blue/black skins look wonderful in WHITE clothes.* Olive and yellow based skins look muddy in earthy colors so go for blue-based pinks and mauves.* Ebony skin looks dramatic in red and black, but keep makeup simple with a red lipstick.* Black skin looks wonder in SILVER - try a few chunky necklaces.* Olive-toned skin looks good in GOLD - so choose something that stands out.* Dark skin looks good in diamante and crystal so long drop earrings or a shimmery pendant would be wonderful.* Warmer skin looks very natural in polish wood beads, amber gem stones and twisted coral.

Native Indian skin has yellow undertones - towards olive and sometimes pale creamy beige. Choose foundation with a hint of pink to warm the complexion. Look for tones of taupe, sepia, caramel, mink brown and use Translucent Powder, either Neutral or Exotic.

BLUSH in soft browns, or terracotta will look most natural but rose pinks and plums will give warmth.

EYESHADOW can be in golden yellow shades, mustard, sage green, khaki and bronze. For after dark you may like to try soft pink, lilac and wine shades.

LIPS look stunning with extra glossy shades. Brown, rust for day and bright colours like fiery red, fuchsia pink for night.
